WordPress 2.5.1 was released today, April 25, and according to the WordPress Development Blog, it contains over 70 fixes as well as one BIG security fix that supposedly the public – and hopefully the gutter dwelling evildoers out there – didn’t know about. This upgrade is highly recommended due to the security fix.
There was talk about a WordPress security vulnerability over at Search Engine People, but I don’t know if this is the same as the one that was fixed or not.
I’ve installed it on my self-hosted blog and will give it a workout over the next few days and then post what I find. The widget admin upgrade I had hoped to see did not show up, but 2.5.2 is already listed on WordPress trac with 92 active and 1 closed ticket. No release date has been set yet.
Note: This update was for the WordPress self-hosted blog software, but the changes and bug fixes should show up at WordPress.com shortly, although no one can be sure when that will be. It could be that some of the changes have already been implemented at .com.
